At Studio Sorores we pride ourselves on creating celebrations that are both timeless and elegant, whilst also being contemporary and fashion forward. Traditional does not have to mean old fashioned, and trend led does not have to mean tacky. It’s important that we have our finger on the pulse of what’s hot or not, and able to apply an aesthetic in a way that’s not going to be dated - especially when it comes to wedding celebrations. A private party can push the boundaries and have fun with fashion, but we want the images of your marriage to be ever lasting.
For 2025 there is one colour we think is going to be hot (aside from our first prediction on instagram in November last year when we accurately reported that the colour brown was going to have a big moment, before Pantone delivered the news that “Mocha Mousse” was it’s colour of the year). That colour is…. Yellow.
It’s been gaining in popularity for a while now and we think it’s about time it made its debut into wedding design schemes this year.
In particular we think a rich buttery yellow is where it is at, combined with an English country style we are seeing everywhere in interiors at the moment. It’s a happy and easy neutral when used in the right way. It’s a gorgeous warm tone that can be used in a more soft and muted way across wedding event design, and evocative of warm sun filled days of Summer.
It is such a versatile colour as it manages to be both fun and uplifting, while soft enough to be calm and adding colour without being too bold. A gentle way to add depth to design when working with a feminine or countryside inspired colour palette - trendy yet timeless, our favourite combination.

What would we pair it with? It works gloriously as an accent colour against darker tones, but also really harmonious with pastels or neutrals (nude, beige and ivory). Light and airy or cosy, it can be used to evoke different atmospheres depending on the space and part of your event. I love the idea of it used in a slightly darker environment with less natural light as it will mimic sunshine and bounce to make a smaller space feel larger or more cosy depending on how you use it.
Not bold enough to colour drench your wedding day in yellow? Whilst a sophisticated monochramatic look using different shades of yellow would be a big statement, you can take it more subtly into your design by considering accents of it in tableware, stationery and florals instead. It’s gorgeous with greens or blues so that you have a cooler contrast. However I would love to run fully with a palette using powdery pinks or peachy shades. Creamy buttery shades of yellow lend themselves to a slightly warmer more nostalgic romantic aesthetic, so if your vibe is more contemporary I would stick to fresher lemon tones.
So… finally will we see red and burgundy move over for mood boosting yellow? Or maybe they will both take centre stage?
