Nature and Biophilic Event Design for Weddings

Nature and Biophilic Event Design for Weddings

We maintain that while aesthetics are important for parties and weddings in particular, event design should ultimately create a space focused on guest experience, bringing atmosphere and allowing for easy flow from start to finish.

We have always drawn inspiration from our clients, but nature, fashion and interiors are almost always at the heart of Studio Sorores event designs. We often harness biophilia within the overall scheme so that we can create a restorative space that subconsciously connects guests on a deeper level.

Think about it… where do you feel most content?

Happiest?

Relaxed?

You may well picture beautiful scenery, sounds of the ocean or birdsong, country gardens with trickling fountains, sand between your toes, the scent of flowers, the glow of a candle.

A multi sensory hit of joy.

By consciously using natural elements in event and wedding design, we re-connect guests with what makes them most happy. Genuinely we think over the years we’ve built success, become known for our signature style, and garnered a following due to our meticulous attention to detail and ability to create spaces that feel as good as they look.

Biophilic design is a philosophy we use when creating an event which helps us to to establish a connection between guests and nature. So, by incorporating elements such as plants, water, wood, and natural light, spaces are created that evoke our inherent bond with the natural world.

Some key principles we use in biophilic event design include:

  • Nature in the space. Directly incorporating nature into the space, through flowers, foliage, plants and other materials like wood or stone.

  • Nature of the space. Mimicking the spatial configurations of nature and replicating feelings of calm, confort or even mystery - and choosing venues or site locations that work with this aesthetic and flow.

  • Natural counterparts and biomorphic forms. Using naturally inspired shapes and patterns with non-natural materials, or using symbolic representations within the design of patterns, shapes, textures, or even numerical arrangements found in nature.

  • Natural light and space. Taking the various attributes of light and spatial connections found naturally, and applying them to the flow of an event - like producing a lighting setup that adjusts during the celebration to replicate our natural daily cycle from day to night. Starting with a warm glow and light floral scents, moving towards darker twinkling lights and more heady evening scents.
