I am sitting here as the dark draws in on an Autumnal afternoon in mid November. It's been a whirlwind of a year for me as I got married myself - first with a legal church ceremony and private garden dinner party with immediate family and friends (one where we focused our attention on the children, including them in every part of the day, and then with a week in Morocco where we hosted four events in different locations, welcoming guests from around the world.
Those of you who follow me on Instagram @studiosorores may have seen some of the previews from these events over the months, but I have deliberately been light on detail as I have always planned to start a bit of a diary here in the online journal. For each event I wanted to walk through not only the design, but also the fashion, beauty, tips and advice I have along the way. I am going to attempt (!) to structure this so that every month at least one entry will be live, and subscribers to our newsletter will be first to receive the latest direct to their inboxes.
I will also be answering questions throughout the series, and doing a spotlight on individual suppliers and venues who went above and beyond at any stage of the planning process.
I really hope it will be super useful to see how I approached things as a perspective of a bride. When I first launched my event planning & design business in 2010 I was already married. We had two beautiful children together who are now 11 and 9 years old, and following an amicable divorce I didn't think I'd be tying the knot again. But after many years of joyous wedding celebrations for clients, it did indeed become my turn again! It was a very different experience though, and I hope some of my own story might inspire those of you who are planning 2nd marriages (or 3rd +), or perhaps getting hitched later in life with children or blended families.
Stay tuned for my first entry... I am going to talk about my engagement and "The Ring" first!
Jessie
